Begin with cake: Gently melt the chocolate in a microwave or in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. It is a cake that is sure to impress! Enjoy xġ x 670g jar morello cherries (drained and juice reserved)Ħ0ml (1/4 cup) of kirsch or cherry brandy ![]() The cream combined with the morello cherries and kirsch is just superb and when you put your fork through all three layers you really get the black forest flavour melting in your mouth. If fresh cherries are in season then use them instead of morello as they give it extra sweetness and make the cake look prettier but morello cheeries are a great alternative if you can’t find fresh. The cake itself is lovely and light and rises a lot to give you the perfect three layers. It is such a good feeling when others enjoy my baking!! It got totally demolished at work today by all the staff who just looked so happy when they were eating it and when I asked how it tasted, the expressions of satisfaction on their faces just said it all. It looked beautiful and tasted just as it looked, delicious! I found a few gateau recipes from my cookbooks, and Nigella Lawson’s recipe and combined them to make the ultimate gateau. One of the guys from work requested a black forest cake a while ago and one of our lovely ladies was leaving work today so I had the perfect opportunity. I also got a viral infection somehow so ended up having to take yesterday off work (Thursday) and because I don’t know how to relax, I spent the day baking this black forest gateau (baking is considered relaxing for me anyway!). As soon as I arrived home I wanted to bake something because it had been so long! After arriving back on Wednesday morning at 7am I was silly and went straight to work on 3 hours sleep and totally jetlagged. Here is the moment captured in a photograph.Īnyway, back to this beautiful recipe. I had not said anything for a while because I was still in shock but of course I said yes! It was a very surreal, beautiful moment and I am so lucky to have a man that is so thoughtful and romantic. Everyone was clapping and cheering and then I heard Chance say “Say yes!!’ haha. I was in such shock and it was so unexpected. So, when I said yes out loud the instructors laughed and said “No, turn around!” I turned around and saw Chance down on one knee and I just bawled my eyes out. I thought I was supposed to be saying yes to the dolphin so it would do a trick. The ladies instructed me to read it out and it said `SAY YES!’ on it. I was told to open up the box and inside there was a note. A dolphin swam up to us carrying a box in her little fins’ and as I was on the end of the line I got to grab the box from her as she jumped in the air to pass it to me. The session was amazing and we got up close with the rare pink dolphins, even getting a kiss from one of the cheeky female dolphins and cuddling a fur seal!Īs the session was coming to an end, the group of us lined up to say goodbye to the dolphins. This was something I had been looking forward to from the moment we booked our flights. Although I have told the story many times already, I of course will have to share it with you all! Last Friday on September 5, I had booked in for a swimming with the dolphins session at Underwater World on Sentosa Island in Singapore. However, the way he did it exceeded my expectations and the fact that I was totally unaware of the whole thing just made it ten times better. One of the highlights was getting engaged! Yes, Chance finally proposed after five long years. It is definitely a must do if you are visiting Singapore. We would just be walking around and monkeys would be hanging down from the trees. It was so open and beautiful and the animals looked so happy. We also went to the Singapore Zoo which was outstanding. My poor little man struggled but we got to do lots of sightseeing including Universal Studios where Finn got to see his favourite character, Elmo. It was such a lovely break with Chance and my son Finn, although travelling with a two year old is much harder than I expected, especially in 30 degree heat with very high humidity. ![]() ![]() We arrived back from our family holiday in Singapore on Wednesday. ![]()
